Quantidade:
Ranked 19th when the 1994-1995 season began, the UConn Huskies didn't need long to settle into a permanent spot inside the Top 5. Sweet-shooting sophomore Ray Allen and senior forward Donny Marshall led a run of 15 straight wins to open the year.
That team finished 23-3 and took the Big East Championship with a 16-2 in conference record. Kerry Kittles and Villanova beat them in the Big East Tournament final, after which the Huskies landed the 2-seed in the West Region.
Chattanooga and Cincinnati fell first, putting UConn in the Sweet 16. A 99-89 win over 3-seed Maryland sent them to the Elite 8 and a date with the O'Bannon brothers and 1-seed UCLA. Allen put up 36 points in that one. Jim Calhoun's Huskies still came up a win short of his first Final Four, falling 102-96 in in the shootout of the tournament.
"Ray was awesome, man... I'm known as a pretty good defensive player. But I was in his face, and we had other guys in his face. He scored coming off screens. He scored shooting off-balance. Man, I'm glad we don't have to play him again."
