SLAM's Legacy Collection goes back into the archives for college basketball classics, and each retro pair is built with the materials and details that honor the original design. The goal was an era-specific keepsake that celebrates one of the most iconic styles in college basketball history.
'92 Trojan Legacy
George Raveling's USC Trojans came into the '91-92 season wanting to build on a year in which they reached the NCAA Tournament as a #10 seed. Southern Cal started unranked, then beat #4 Ohio State 79-77 and put the nation on notice. Four wins against top 5 teams followed that season.
Two of those came against UCLA, and the other was a 70-69 classic against #2 Arizona in the final regular-season game. USC closed the year 22-5 overall, 15-3 in in conference, and earned a #2 seed in the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament.
A dynamic guard named Harold Miner had a lot to do with that run. In '92 he was named Pac-10 Player of the Year, 1st Team All-American, and National Player of the Year by Sports Illustrated. The media dubbed him "Baby Jordan"; he averaged over 26ppg and was a highlight reel waiting to happen on any given night.
USC climbed from unranked all the way to #8 in in the country, and the dream season ended in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament with a heartbreaking 79-78 loss to #7 seed Georgia Tech.
