Bob Knight, Ray Tolbert, Isiah Thomas and the 1980-81 Indiana Hoosiers shook off a slow start and found their stride in February, riding it to a second straight Big Ten championship.
Nobody pushed the Hoosiers in the NCAA Tournament. Every opponent they drew fell by double digits, and that run closed with a championship game win over Dean Smith and North Carolina. It was Indiana University's 4th National Championship and the 2nd for Bob Knight.
“The chance to play in something of that magnitude, especially for a kid from Indiana, was a dream and here we were doing it. Plus, it was against North Carolina and Dean Smith and their great tradition as well as that with Knight and Indiana...That was just a magical stretch." —Randy Wittman
