Antall:
Everybody remembers the eyes. The bulging stare, the veins standing up in his neck, the sweat dripping off his head in sheets. And nobody who heard Kevin Garnett talk trash ever forgot it — the man had a way with words that would've had Shakespeare reaching for a pen.
All of that noise hid the thing people mention far too rarely: KG's heart.
Not the romantic kind. Heart as in desire. Heart as in passion. Heart as in pure competitiveness. Heart as in ob-fu*&ing-session.
He N-E-E-D-E-D to win a chip. You thought his body looked restless on the court? Without a ring, his soul was running figure eights around those never-still feet at 1,000 miles per hour.
Boston traded for KG in July of 2007. By December of '07 he was on the cover of SLAM 113, and in June of '08 he lifted the Larry O'Brien Trophy.
That heart showed itself right there on the parquet floor, mid-celebration of his first NBA title, when he yelled the line everyone still quotes: “ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!”
You can't overlook that part of Garnett anymore. In the end, heart is what he's known for.
