A team that started the year outside the Top 25 ended it in the Final Four. The 1979-1980 Iowa Hawkeyes rattled off 9 straight wins, climbed to #10 before the Big Ten schedule began, and went 10-8 in in conference play and into the NCAA Tournament as the 5-seed in the East.
Five Hawkeyes averaged double figures in points per game that season. Easy wins over VCU and NC State set up a Sweet 16 date with 1-seed Syracuse, and Vince Brookins dropped 21 points as Iowa blew past the Orange 88-77 to sit one win from the Final Four.
Then came Georgetown and Steve Waite, the unlikely hero, who didn't miss a field goal or a free throw in the Elite 8 - including the ones that put Iowa ahead for good in the last seconds.
Made of 100% USA cotton, this tee is beefy, durable and shrink free. It feels like a shirt you've worn for several years already: heavy in weight, sturdy in hand, with a generous fit.
