K-State came into 2007-2008 with the best recruiting class in school history, and Michael Beasley sat right at the top of it. In his lone season in Manhattan, Kansas, he put up 26 points and 12 rebounds a game, earned Big 12 Player of the Year and landed consensus 1st Team All American.
The Wildcats went 20-11 in the regular season and climbed to #18 in in the rankings by mid February. A late slump dropped them to the #11 seed in the Midwest Region. Didn't matter much once the bracket started: Beasley, fellow freshman Bill Walker and the rest upset #6 seed USC, 80-67.
Wisconsin, the #3 seed, ended the run in the Round of 32 in.
